Thomas Agni da Lentini: Vita Sancti Petri Martiris

The official Vita of Peter of Verona by Friar Thomas Agni of Lentini from the mid-1260s is here presented for the first time with a critical edition and translation; all extant witnesses to the text have been consulted. After his assassination in 1252, Peter of Verona was rapidly proclaimed a martyr, and his Vita testifies to the far-reaching extension of his cult, spreading out from Italy and Southern France to reach western Iberia and Ireland, as is attested by the miracles attributed to his intercession.

The present monograph forms a companion volume to Prudlo's edition of the Summa contra hereticos, attributed to Peter of Verona.
